CBD vs. CBG: What’s the Difference

CBD vs. CBG: What’s the Difference
May 18, 2021

Few people know that Cannabis Sativa plants have more than 100 cannabinoids. And of those hundreds of cannabinoids, CBG is one of the most studied yet the least known. Here’s what you should know about the difference between CBD and CBG and the many beneficial properties of their combinations.

CBG, which stands for cannabigerol, is a plant compound that is known as “the mother of all cannabinoids.” It all starts with CBGAcannabigerolic acid, which is the acidic form of CBG. As plants go through their flowering cycle, CBGA transforms into different cannabinoids such as CBD, CBN, THC and many more. CBG has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties and like CBD, it is non-psychoactive and does not cause an intoxicated high feeling.

The difference between the CBD and CBG is how each interacts with CBD1 and CBD2 receptors and enzymes that exist in our body. CBD acts indirectly with the same receptors as CBG. CBG just has a more direct pathway to activating these well- known receptors. CBG may help:

  • Reduce inflammation.
  • Boost appetite.
  • Combat pathogenic bacteria and other antibiotic -resistant infections.
  • Reduce intraocular eye pressure caused by glaucoma.

There would be no CBD oil without CBG and as a result, most tinctures come with CBD/CBG combinations. This helps to create the “entourage effect that helps provide CBD users with the best benefits of both oils. The more CBG and CBD are studied, the more benefits and ailment support properties can be discovered.

If you are interested in finding natural CBD and CBG products, then we invite you to visit a CBD Emporium store near you and speak to our knowledgeable CBD Consultants. We are always happy to educate and provide solutions to help support the wellness needs of our customers. Here’s to your continuing health!
